Ingrid Holm — Founder & Editor
Typographer turned travel curator; removes one UI element every month.
We craft memorable journeys with expert local partners and a modern booking experience.
Plainbook began as a side project by a typographer who deleted every banner ad from a travel site and realized how much clearer the page became. That experiment became a philosophy: remove urgency timers, remove fake scarcity, remove seventeen cross-sells before checkout. Plainbook lists a small number of city stays and slow itineraries we would book ourselves — boutique hotels with good beds, walkable neighborhoods, and front desks that do not upsell spa packages at check-in. Our site uses one typeface, two colors, and no autoplay video. Support replies in plain sentences. We are not the cheapest option, nor the most luxurious. We are the most considered.
